Tip O’ the Day: How to Modify Illustrator Symbols

With a normal shape, changing colours in the Colours palette does the trick, however when you try to do that with a symbol it doesn’t work. Using the Appearance palette doesn’t make any difference. What do you do now?

Select your symbol. Go to the Symbols Palette and click on the little arrow on the top right. A menu will appear. Click on Break Link Symbol.

Et Voilat. Now you can edit it.
