JPEGs and Resolution

An interesting discussion developed in the About Graphics Software forum, when one forum member asked (paraphrased): “If I have compressed a TIFF image to a JPEG of 72 dpi, can I take that file into a graphics program and convert it to 300 dpi so it can be printed, or will the image be partially corrupted as a result of having been compressed and thus affect the print quality?”

About Graphics Software Guide, Sue Chastain, and other forum members provided links to many resources to answer this and other questions that were asked as the thread progressed. If you have trouble understanding resolution and image resizing, this thread might help you comprehending them.
